Got new Roku stick, upon setup got a call from world computer support in, asking if I was trying to setup my Roku, said updates were needed on all my devices, and they now have a service that will install 400 channels on Roku for 210.00. i could see them doing something with the TV's, adding channels, so I agreed, later my kid try to look at our local ch3, and is asked for a fee. and our provider,we don't have a provider, can't get anyone on phone till next day,I decide to stop payment, and decline offer.long story short, they are selling technical support for 210.00 for two years. i have alerted Roku, setup being rerouted to these people so they know to look out for this.its 35.00 to stop payment on a check,so don't get hooked.

I went to your web page having difficulty with my remote device. Called the number given on your web page. They screen shared with me and said I had a virus called Creepware. For $150 they can remove from all my devices and my Roku will be working again. Hung up, called Apple. They state no virus on my computer, phone or Ipad and that would not fix my Roku remote. Although I had checked the batteries, put in new ones and it didn't work, I decided to put in another two batteries just in case. Ha. All I needed was new batteries but your guy wanted to sell me $150 for NOTHING. What a scam and crooked organization. Not sure who I report this to. FTC, BBB, somebody that is for sure!

I bought 3 roku streaming devices yesterday. When I started setting up the first, a phone number appeared on my TV with a message that the activation failed and I needed to call the phone number. When I did, I was told that there would be a $79.99 activation fee. I questioned that but they insisted new roku streaming customers must pay the 1 time fee. They sent an email and I responded & gave them my credit card number. Once I did that, the message went away and I could continue the setup. I noticed while setting up the 2nd device a note on the screen that says “Roku does not charge an activation fee”. Chase Bank told me that this was my fault for giving them the credit card number and that there was “NO SUCH THING AS A SCAM” - too bad. The charge stands. I am really upset that someone was able to post this message on my TV. I had hoped to “cut the cable “ and use Roku but I am scared now to use Roku as it seems they are not secure.

Sometime last month Victor left a voice mail saying that he was a ROKU Tech calling because my ROKU account was expiring and ask me to call him back on the number on my screen, he did not provide a number. I looked up ROKU and called you, you advised that it was fraud and ask me to send you an email explaining what happened.

I was setting up new Roku TV and when I went to input my activation code, i was interrupted by a phone number to call blocking my attempt to continue. They wanted $100.00 dollars to update my profile for my 2 ROKU TVs. It is a scam. Never give your Credit card info to anyone that you have not personally contacted.
I contacted ROKU and they gave me another way to activate my TV and It was free, always free!!!!!!!!!!!

These Guys are scammers and have an offshore accent. Protect yourself and this great company. It happens on my Apple account also and I always contact the company and it is always false. Apple never contacts you by Email. Remember always hang up and call the company asking for a payment and Credit card info.

I tried to activate my roku but the tv screen says i have to access roku.com /activate and insert the code provided on tv and follow instructions! So i did but then they asked to create a account and pay one time $69.99 activation fee, so i declined and disconnect.

When I Googled Roku support helpline I dialed the phone number that was given and it rang and rang and rang was nobody answering. Then my phone rang from an unavailable phone number and a man said that he was with Roku support. I needed help changing my email address because I no longer had access to that email and I had just purchased a new television and Roku stick and wanted to set it up. The man on the phone said that I would have to pay 99 99 or my TV would stop working and I would no longer have Roku service.

As I was on the phone with him I was scrolling through the Google search list cast for Roku, I was also at the system info screen on my Roku television I Googled TCL USA Roku and a legitimate telephone number came up for contact us. I'm very thankful that I didn't give any personal information to the man that said that he was support for Roku. The lady named Bon was very helpful and pleasant and reassured me that everything was okay and my information was safe as long as I didn't give my passwords, which I didn't, because I hung up on him quick. Thank God to my diligence and the helpful real support team at roku.com. the proper telephone number to call is 1816 272-8106. Any other phone number is bogus. Good luck and enjoy your Roku it's the best thing since sliced cheese!

The first purchase I made at Walmart was a TCL TV with Roku built in. So I needed to activate it. We went onto the cell phone to the site that was given, had problems activating it so we called the phone# given which is 855-200-2573 (case manager Steve Baumer X-1021 of World Computer Support). Who in turn activated all of the desired channels but charged me $150 to do so.

The second box I purchased same thing had problems going online to activate so call for assistance and got him again. Was charged another $150 to activate that one also. Please Help!!

My Roku showed an error when setting up. Gave a 1-800 number to call, spoke with Harry who told me to go to the Roku website Roku support/ he quoted me the registration along with a phone #1-866-316-7396.

Continued to connect then asked for 199.95 Canadian dollars for registration fee but couldn't take a credit card because the system was down so asked me to get an itune card, take a picture of the card, they would call me back tomorrow to give me an email to send the card to. How could your Roku show a support number to call when clearly this is fraud. I do not want my personal email made public but I do expect a reply from you directly as to how this is possible. Obviously you do not have a secure web site.

We were setting up our Roku & we got this notice on our TV-"Error call 1-888-885-7278" We went back & tried to set it up several times & finally called the # that kept coming up. They said because it was our 2nd Roku, we had to pay $69.00 for 15 years or $99.00 for lifetime. We argued with them, but went with the 15 years for $69.00 since we are in our mid 70's.

They set it up & sent us an e-mail to accept with our wrong mailing address. We sent it back asking to have our address corrected. We never heard anything else. Then after talking to my sons & realizing it was a scam we called our AmEx card-They did a fraud report -this is a scam -you are never to be charged anything except for the purchase price of the Roku!!!!!!

While setting up a new ROKU, it would not let me put in the code to set up. I received a call informing me that as of July 4th, 2019 there is a one time fee for ROKU. $69.99 being the cheapest. $99.99 for lifetime. the ROKU itself was only $29.99. In my stupidity, I fell for it. I called ROKU who told me there is no fee. I called the credit card company to stop the payment. They said to call back in 5 days. We'll see. With all these other almost identical situations, nobody can do anything? If I could find out their location, I'll do all of you a favor.

I have a Roku tv. I love it. Just bought another one and was give instructions to go to Roku.com/link. First was Ben who never text, then Calvin started texting me and asked for my number to call me to help set up.he transferred me to Calvin. I gave my credit card info. But luckily I was able to lock my card before the charge went thru. I reported the fraud. These assholes really make me mad. There’s a whole team of them.

We had been using Roku for 2 months. We were setting up our second Roku & we got this notice on our TV-"Error call 1-888-885-7278" We went back & tried to set it up several times & finally called the # that kept coming up. They said because it was our 2nd Roku, we had to pay $69.00 for 15 years or $99.00 for lifetime. When I question the charge they said that we had been on a guest account and now had to pay. Out right fraud in my opinion.

I want my money back, I never authorize ROkU to my card, you guys have been taking money from me and I want it all back, I’m living in a shelter and every penny that I have on my card I need to support myself I am pissed off because today I really needed the last ten dollars on my card you guys took 4.99 from me, so how can I eat today???

I believe it was last September or October I tried to hook up a Roku device in my bedroom and a bunk number came up saying I had to call them. I called them and they told me that I had to pay an ungodly amount to get my Roku hooked up and before it was over where they had the price down to around $200. I just now found out that that was a scam and I was told by one of your people that work at your customer service that I can get reimbursed for that scam. can you tell me what I have to do or if this is possible thank you.

How does the fraudulent number show up on the setup screen of a new Roku? I fell for this scam and called the number, mistake! Was told that is was a new policy that since I had more that one Roku device I could not set anymore up on that email acct. Needed to pay a one time fee for up to 20 devices. After calling Roku they helped me reset device and add to my existing acct. Credit card is stopping the charge because it was a scam.
Called amazon and report the the seller was selling tampered Roku devices.

We got scammed for $117.00 for a one time subscription.

The phone number given was 1-866-436-0333. Thomas was the tech guy. I got the number off googling Ruko to get a customer service number.

Good Morning,

I was setting up my new ROKU account and had trouble getting the access code to work. I Googled ROKU and called the number referenced on the site. IT WAS NOT ROKU. I spoke to someone via phone and they directed me up the ladder to someone else. They said that my ROKU wasn't working and there was something that might be wrong with the drivers and wanted access to my computer to check it out. Like a dummy I did (I KNOW, MY BAD). Then they wanted $500.00 to clean out the trojan viruses. (Stupid is as stupid does.) I paid it. After it was all over my wife called my daughter who said I was scammed. I got a new credit card and have to go through all of that stuff. Now I have trouble trying to reset the data on ROKU and don't know if "they" are causing my problems with that. God bless us one and all!

Collosus ventures inc. Is a major scam!!! A msg popped up when i went to the www.Roku.Com/link as i activated my 1st roku device! I spoke to an indian man who clearly said his name was john loved & that he was a roku agent willing to help me activate my account. He sounded very convincing, but i researched online that roku never charges any fees! He said i still need your information in case you would like to subscribe/rent any movies in the future, so i fell for what he said & gave him my information. It turned out to be a scam when i got an email from colossus ventures charging me $109.99! Do not believe what they say! Colossus ventures is a third party that hacked into my account using roku!!! When i called to speak to the manager, it sounded exactly like john! I spoke to 3 indian men & a lady who promised they’d pay me back! If i don’t get my refund & they do anything w/ my account... I will sue colossus ventures! I’ve reported them to the police & will report it thru social media to let the public know to be aware of how easily & dangerously people like colossus ventures can hack into your accounts!!! Colossus ventures is a major scam!!! They better pay back & delete all my information like they promised they would or i will definitely take it to court & sue them!!!

Got my Roku today, following the set-up procedure, when entering code said it failed and a number popped up that I should call, 1-844-797-3999, said there was an activation/support fee, either five year or lifetime. gave him my debit card number to charge $152.99. Said his name was Jay Dsouza. Then he gave me a different number to call if I have any problems, 1-877-917-9337. I was suspicious, as soon as I got off the phone went on-line to see about this "activation" fee, found out it is a big scam. Called my bank and reported fraud, but they say will investigate within 10 days, had to cancel my card.

Donna that same number did the same to me, did you receive your refund back? If you did what happened with your roku activation? I’am so frustrated that this is even happening and for a long time from what I’am reading roku needs to do something about this!!!!
