Every time I come in for an appointment it takes this business at least an hour after my appt. Time to be seen. Even if I'm the first appointment in the morning it still does not matter.

This practice must change or every time I come ill write a bad customer service report.

I recently had an extremely upsetting and very unsettling experience with one of your dentists regarding negligent care, and possibly assault. I request that the dentist be terminated immediately, reprimanded for her actions, and/or re-trained in her profession. I also request that the work that was supposed to be done on my 14-year old son resume immediately. An apology letter to my son for the erratic care would be nice too.

On May 16, 2018, I brought my son into the Western Dental Office located at 921 South Main Street, Suite A, Salinas, California 93901. Our appointment was at 1:00 p.m., and we arrived 10-15 minutes early to check in. After a short wait in the waiting area, we were taken back to the patient area. Within a few minutes of being seated, one of the dental assistants brought over some paperwork, and started looking at the chart. I immediately confirmed with her that the reason we were here today was to get my son's permanent crowns. She said, “Yes” as she continued to look at her paper. When she put the paper down, she brought over a tray, which included a shot of local anesthesia. I immediately asked, “Does my son need a shot for this?” She said, “Yes.” “Why?” I asked. She said that I’ll have to ask the dentist. My son has severe anxiety at the dentist and started to tear up when he saw the shot on the tray.

Twenty minutes later, the dentist showed up. She picked up the paperwork, and I said, “We are doing the permanent crowns today, right?” She didn’t answer me. I waited another minute or two, and she starts to pick up a tool from the tray. I say again, “We are doing the permanent crowns today, right?” She ignored me again. Then she put the tool down on the tray, walked a couple feet away and sneezed into her gloves. I wanted to say something, but she was already ignoring me for some reason. It was extremely awkward and pretty insanitary that she just sneezed onto her gloves.

She comes back and picks up the paperwork again and looks confused. I say, “We are here to get my son's permanent crowns. Numbers 7 & 8 have already been approved, and you’ve already put the posts in. He has temporary crowns on them right now, and we need the permanent crowns. We were originally waiting for tooth number 9, but the insurance wouldn’t approve it, because 50% of the tooth isn’t gone.” She still doesn’t speak for about 20 seconds and then she finally speaks and says, “I remember. We have to do another mold.” “Why do we have to do another mold?” I asked. She says, “Because number 9 wasn’t approved.” I say, “Fine, let’s just do another mold and get this going please.” She puts the paperwork down, and I asked, “Why do you need to give my son a shot, when you are just doing a mold?” She says, “The mold has to go under the gums and it will hurt him.” Puzzled… as I’m wondering why a mold would hurt him, I just look at my son and tell him, “Sorry, I guess you have to get the shot.” She says very bluntly to him and the loudest I’ve heard her speak, “Yes! You are getting a shot!”

Then she proceeds to lower his dental chair, and she stares out the window the entire time. I’m wondering at this point whether she is on drugs or some heavy medication. My son was slipping off the chair and had to keep readjusting and she didn’t even make eye contact with him. She just kept lowering the chair as she stared out the window towards the Burger King across the street. My son was panicking a little as he kept staring at that shot. She ends up lowering the chair as far as it will go, all the way to the ground, briefly glances at him, and then raises the chair back up. She was just frozen, like a statue, staring out the window, with absolutely no expression on her face. It was a really strange moment.

So, she picks up a tool on the tray and starts picking at my son's teeth, numbers 7, 8 & 9. She pulls on the temporary crowns a bit, and then just continues to scrape and scrape and scrape, to the point where my son's gums start to bleed, a lot! She keeps scraping and scraping. She continues to do this for a few minutes. My son's eyes are squeezed shut and he has tears running down his cheeks as she is doing this. Then she says, “I can’t do the mold today.” “Why can’t you do the mold today?” I asked. She said, “because look. His gums are bleeding.” I say, “I just watched you poke that thing in his mouth numerous times, making him bleed!” She shrugs her shoulders. I say, “Did you really just shrug your shoulders at me?” She says, “I’m not doing the mold, but I can do a filling on his tooth number 9.” I said, “Tooth number 9 has had a recent root canal, he needs a filling too?” She says, “Yes.” Then she says, “He needs to brush and floss better, and then you guys can come back later.” I said, “Huh? I don’t understand why you are telling me now that you can’t do the mold? We came here for his permanent crowns.” She says, “He needs to go home and brush and floss for about a month and then come back.” I said, “I’m still confused as to why we are even doing this mold. You guys did this mold last time, and he has temporary crowns that you guys put on there. Now you’re telling me he needs a new mold and you’re telling me that you won’t even do the work and to come back in a month? We’ve been waiting over 2 years to get these crowns done. It’s been excuse after excuse with you guys.” She says, “You need to have him brush better like this…” and she takes the scraping tool again and runs it across his gums that are now highly inflamed! I yelled, “STOP! YOU ARE HURTING HIM!” Travis is crying a lot and is clearly in a lot of pain. She says, “If I do the molds, they might not take because his mouth is bleeding so bad.” “YOU JUST DID THAT!” I snapped back. So, she picks up the shot and starts to go towards my son's mouth and I yell again, “WAIT! STOP! STOP! DON’T!” I said, “I want to talk about this before you give him that shot. Don’t give him that shot while we are discussing this!” She puts the shot down and picks the paperwork back up. She says, “Ok, I’ll do the molds, but if it doesn’t take, you might have to come back.” “I said OK, it’s worth a try, we need to get this done for him.” She picks the shot back up and starts to go towards his mouth again, and says quietly to herself, “I can’t do the molds today.” “WAIT! STOP! STOP! DON’T!” I yelled again! I said, “Don’t give him that shot if you’re not going to do everything today! If you can’t do the mold and the filling, and you are telling me I have to come back anyway, I would rather Travis get one shot next time, and not two! We can do everything next time!” She still has the shot in her hand and confirms, “Ok, I’ll do the mold today.” I say, “Ok” and before I know it she’s jamming the shot right up my son's mouth! I was in total shock. This was an assault. She seriously jammed that shot in his mouth, without warning my son, and was very violent with it! My son kicked his feet and screamed in pain as she did this. Again, I’m literally in shock at how violent she was giving him this shot! It seemed like the dentist just took out all of her frustrations right then and there, on my son, on a 14 year old victim. She does it a couple more times, very fast and very violent! Then she walks away, and says, “I’ll be back in a few minutes.” I was furious! In hindsight, I should have called the police immediately and filed an assault charge for this violent, erratic behavior!

My son just lay on the dental chair, with tears coming down his cheeks, crying, in lots of pain. I ask my son if he is ok, and he doesn’t even answer me. He just keeps crying and his eyes are squeezed shut. I start texting my husband and telling him exactly what is going on. The dentist didn’t come back to us for 25 minutes. I could hear her talking in the background to other people. She finally comes back to us, and this time she brings a dental assistant with her. She doesn’t even glance at me or acknowledge that I’m there, goes immediately to my son, opens his mouth, and shows the dental assistant the bleeding. Then she says, “I can’t do the molds with all this bleeding.” I interrupted their conversation, as I was sitting only about a foot from her, and said, “What do you mean you can’t do the molds! We just talked about this!” The dental assistant says, “We can’t work on Travis’ teeth while they are inflamed and bleeding.” I looked immediately back at the dentist and said again, “We just talked about this and you said you would do the molds!” The dentist repeats word for word what the dental assistant just said. I’m beyond furious at this point! “Why did you give him the shot if you aren’t going to do the molds? I told you to NOT to give him the shot unless you were going do them!” She shrugged at me AGAIN and just looked at the dental assistant. She turns to me and says, “You can’t bully me!” “WHAT?!” I said very loudly again, “I told you not to give him the shot unless you are going to do the molds! I said if you can’t do the molds today, then we will wait, and come back in a month when you can do the molds and I told you NOT to give him the shot just for a filling!” At this point I’m convinced there is something seriously off with this dentist, and her negligent care of my son. We continued to have heated exchanges back and forth for a few minutes. Then the dental assistant looks at my son and starts lecturing him about brushing his teeth and flossing. Huh? I was pretty much yelling at the dentist at this point, confronting her AGAIN, about how she violently shoved that needle in my son's mouth, scraped his gums to the point where there was blood all over his mouth, and how she just told me that she would do the molds, and now she’s telling me she won’t! So this dental assistant keeps talking about brushing and flossing to my son? I listen to it for about 10 seconds before I yell at her to STOP! “STOP! JUST STOP TALKING!” I looked at my son and I said, “We are done! We are leaving.” Worst dentist ever! And I made sure everyone in there heard me say that!

Today, one day later, My son's temporary crowns have completely come out. He now has two posts sticking out of his gums, his front teeth are now just posts! He also has severe pain in his gums where she scraped and scraped and poked them violently. My son is now deathly afraid of ever going to another dentist ever again!

I wish I could tell you the name of this dentist, I assumed it was “Potdar” as that was the name on the computer when we checked in. But when I did a quick google search of Potdar, turns out he is male, and was also working in the office that day. I don’t even know who was working on my son. I don’t even know if it was a real dentist! Whoever she is, and it probably won’t be hard to find out, should NOT be around anyone in this line of work. She was completely unprofessional, very erratic, had terrible communication skills, and acted very violently in scraping his gums, forcing them to bleed and become inflamed and the way she gave my son the shot…!?!!! My son told me she even squirted a bunch of the anesthetic into his mouth and he had to swallow it. We have never experienced this amount of trauma, distress, and negligence! What a total nightmare trip to the dentist!

In conclusion, this dentist acted unprofessional and irresponsible. She took out her frustrations about our conversation, and probably with me, on a 14-year old child by violently injecting anesthesia into his mouth, after violently scrapping his mouth with a dental tool. By definition, this is an assault on a minor child. This dentist should be reprimanded immediately for her actions and should not be working on other patients.

Additionally, and most importantly, My son, the victim in all of this, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. He deserves to receive professional dental treatment.

I sincerely feel for your son, I can only hope he or you never go through such dental horror again. This deranged dentist should lose her license, be drug tested and face criminal abuse charges.

Hope everyone reads your story. Western Dental needs to see that no one is never treated in the matte
r your son was. I'm so sick of these so called people in the medical field that shouldn't be,and getting away with crap all the time! I hope you got everything you asked for. I applaud you for speaking up and sharing. We need more people to do the same. Good luck and God Bless.

I went with the orthodontist in 2701 W. First St. Santa Ana CA. The orthodontist was kind but after my consultation I wanted to know the estimation with and without my insurance. The secretary or person in charge to do that. Told me I had to be a patient and after that she can give me the estimation for the treatment. I called after my consultation because I had questions and they didn't call me back. I called again today and they didn't call me back. I read the comments and I'm glad don't get the treatment over there.

I am Relyn Corpus with account number 47-096555. I was seen at Western Dental Chula Vista on March 31. Gingival irrigation was and i was billed $244. I paid initially $50 and next payment was due April 28 for $66.62. I paid online instead the whole balance which was $198.64 as i was told in April 27. So as of April 27, 2018 I was fully paid , until prior to June 10 I received a billing statement telling me to pay $28.36.

I brought this matter to Western Dental Chula vista and I was told that they will verify the issue and wait for 30 days.. its almost 30 days but what i got is another billing statement which is even more than the original of $28.36. this time it is $53.36. We are not rich in fact we cannot afford to pay more than what we are billed. Kindly look into the matter coz we're just DentiCal. Thank you.

Horrible corporate office accounts manager Anna, tells you one thing and states if you do not hear from them within 48 hours you do not have to worry that everting has been take care of, well to my surprise almost a month later she call and states I still owe this bill, told her what about our previous conversation, well of course she turned it all around and now stated that the office where I had my work done, Claudia that this is her responsibility, That she was to call me. No one has there story straight .... this has been going on for months! DO NOT GO NOR REFER ANYONE TO WESTERN DENTAL. the worst unprofessional service I have ever had in my life. Hope God helps these people soon.

This is happening to me now. They told me if I paid my bill in full of the date of service I would not owe any. Well guess what a 1/2 year later they are stating I owe them money....I have been going back and fourth they say I will get a call with in 48 hours if not not to worry it has been taken care of @nd not to worry, well it’s another couple of months and guess what I OWE...Do not refer anyone to WESTERN DENTAL.

It is my understanding that I have a payment plan set up by Luz at the Mesa office. Why then did I receive a bill requesting the full amount?

At the office they have been taking the dentures three times wrong then making appointments and they were not seen. Or they have been not providing the services. Telling them they didnt had the dentures. Then the secretary Nalah was super disrespectful and rude making fun and not even wanting to call the manager or give me her name. The dentist didnt want to talk with us saying he have too many patients. And making me wait more than 20 minutes. Its an abuse my parents cant not even walk. The manager Sophia was laughing at the office making us wait talk with her.

I waited over an hour for my appointment and never called. The receptionist kept saying I was next and yet I wasn't called. Their service and attitude is very poor.

To whom may this concern;

Today December 31st , 2018 I took my grandson to the office located Blossom Hill and Snell, San Jose CA (Office # 871) for some fillings, the appointment was at 11:00, I arrived 15 minutes before that. I waited and waited for long time at 11:30 I asked what time they will take my grandson in and the receptionist told me that he was next but it will take 20 minutes before they call him in, actually took hour and a half to be seen and the procedure to take place. The lock of not enough personnel and overbooked patients is not acceptable, please add more personnel or reduce the quantity of patients booked at the same time.

Thank you,
Martha Hernandez

This facility at the corner of snell and blossom hill in San Jose is absolutely a joke. Some one needs to come and check the staff here. No body knows what they are doing. The manager Karla seems to be busy all the and accomplishing nothing. I guess I am going to go some where else, I had enough of their BS.

I had 9am appointment at your office on Standiford in Modesto, Ca on May 23rd. The office called earlier in the week to confirm that I would be there. I showed up for my appointment and was told it was cancelled. I asked why it was cancelled and why wasn't I called beforehand. I was told the orthodontist that had filled in for that day was not able to do the work on me and they were not aware of this until that very day.

This has happened to me before whereas I show up for an appointment and I'm told my appointment was cancelled. There have also been numerous times when I show up and have had to wait at least 45 minutes before I get called. This has also happened to my wife. This whole experience with Western Dental has been very disappointing and frustrating. I look forward to getting the work done which has been in progress so I can leave Western Dental.

After 40 minutes on the phone with Francisco - I was told my appointment will be July 9th at 2:00 pm upon asking to speak with a manager Francisco then tells me "he was not supposed to make my appoint me and has to cancel it. It's now been an additional 5 minutes on hold totaling 45 minutes this is absurd an unacceptable. Now francisco has returned to tell me call tomorrow stating that the office is closed. This is the worst I've ever been treated as a patient and a customer.

I was assigned a provider by my Dental HMO through Blue Shield. I called to make an appointment with that provider for a "basic cleaning and to get established with the dentist." Per my benefit summary, there is no charge for basic cleaning and xrays. They took copies of my ID and insurance card. They took xrays, but did not clean my teeth and then tried to tell me I needed $1400 worth of "plaque removal procedures" which I declined. When I received my insurance statement, it indicated that I owed $480. I called Blue Shield to inquire and was told the office had billed under the wrong provider-one that was out of network. I will be calling shortly to ask them to bill under the assigned provider. Still feels shady all the way around. This is in Burbank, CA.

I called to make an appointment they set one for me and when I got there they told me that they spoke to me and they change the appointment. Very bad customer service. No one called me to let me know that the appointment was changed. They didn't have the lady that checks Insurance in that day. They should all know how to check insurance that's why they are in the front office.

Bad Management, RUDE MEAN HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.. The manager in Camden ave do not have any experience with customer service , she's so arrogant ..I really don't know why she still in this position. CONNIE IT'S THE ONLY WHO KNOWS WHATS GOING ON AT THIS PLACE! She should take over.

I started my nightmare in June of 2019, was to be $50 copay, because of my union, they said it had changed a couple of days before I got there, but they didn't bother to call me and let me know it would cost a lot more. So I get there and find out the change. I was to have a check up and cleaning.Signed a bunch of papers for payment,Care no interest etc. I had a lot bone loss which I already knew. So they come up with a huge amount for all the treatments which most of it was not covered by my union. The dentist I had could not even count my my teeth for my gums, I finally had to tell her I had my 4 wisdom, and 4 other teeth pulled for braces. She said oh I see that now,at that point I should have gotten up and left. They did some kind of flush not covered, and some other stuff not covered.I told them I will not see her again!!! Next visit they pulled 2 teeth worst ever.I came back to finish the cleaning etc. as I told them I would not be ready, because I'm a bleeder and would not be healed enough to proceed. I get there and they said I was right I would have to come back!! I go back and get a decent dentist, and he did some cleaning, I was to come back 12-30-2019, and I would get him.

I get there 10:55am they didn't tell me that the guy was not there.I was just suppose to get a ck-up then they want to take more x-rays and clean, charge my insurance more money!!They do the x-rays then tell I have to come back another day, I said no I would be done today,so they had me come back 2:30pm. I left 11:50am, back at2:30pm, finally done at 4:30pm. Needless to say they used up all my insurance, and they wanted to do more. I will not be back, I would have been better off just going to my dentist, which is not covered by my insurance. Bad experience!!!!

My husband and I made an appointment at the Rancho Cordova office after getting GEHA insurance (which recommended Western Dental as an approved provider). At the first exam, the dentist and office manager found lots of things wrong with our teeth when they found we had "great insurance". At our insistence that we only wanted the minimum done (our ages are 82 and 85),we were subjected to lots of pressure. My husband had an appointment to have three teeth extracted for a new partial and before the appointment, he had to get his physician's approval and go off his blood thinner for five days which he did. On the day of the appointment, he was told by the dentist he would not do the extractions and to find a dentist near a hospital "just in case you need medical attention". While my husband was out trying to find a dentist, Western Dental billing called to tell him his bill was overdue. He had NO work done. The Rancho Cordova office said this bill was sent AUTOMATICALLY...they were not responsible. Needless to say, we were not happy.

We chose a new dentist and requested our x-rays be sent to the new dentist. Now two weeks later this has not happened. I will be notifying GEHA of this terrible service and believe that your outfit should be removed from their approved list.

They have the worse service!! To make appointment, I was on the line for hours. The operator was too slow!!!!! They don’t have good attitude! I don’t recommend this place.
